Textiles | Fragments of the Bush
Textile with stitching. In this wall hanging I have used fallen leaf litter from the Eucalyptus Campaspe, commonly known as the silver gimlet, a species of tree that is endemic to Western Australia. These leaves were contact printed with heat to produce the image. Rust from old discarded iron was used as a mordant (which sets the image). Seed stitch in silk thread is added to complement the shapes of the leaves and to add texture.
32 x 155 cms, unframed
